Our Wedding Dress Keepsake Doll transforms your most treasured memories into a timeless, tangible piece of your love story, handcrafted by award-winning Doll Artist, Lou Peters.

Each bespoke doll begins with your wedding dress or carefully sourced fabrics that honour its spirit, creating an heirloom as unique as your journey. Intricately stitched, the doll gently captures not just your likeness but also the feeling, the quiet moments, the promises, and the sparkle of your day.

Choose between our Classic 40cm Bride Doll (includes legs) or the elegant 40cm Mannequin Style (without legs) - each lovingly created to showcase every meaningful detail. You're warmly invited to send special garments, keepsakes, or personal touches to be woven into the design, or to let us source materials that reflect your vision.

This is not just a doll, it’s a memory preserved.

HOW IS MY WEDDING DRESS KEEPSAKE DOLL CREATED?
Each Wedding Dress Keepsake Doll is carefully handcrafted by Lou Peters, using your provided wedding dress fabrics or specially sourced materials to honour your original design. Every doll is lovingly made to reflect the spirit, memories, and details of your wedding day, ensuring a truly bespoke heirloom.

CAN I SEND MY ACTUAL WEDDING DRESS OR FABRIC FOR THE DOLL?
Yes, you are warmly invited to send your wedding dress, veil, or other meaningful fabrics for use in your doll. If you prefer not to use your original dress, we can source similar luxurious fabrics to beautifully recreate its essence.

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO CUT MY ORIGINAL WEDDING DRESS?
We completely understand. If you’d prefer to keep your gown intact, we can work from detailed photos and source matching fabrics, laces, and trims to capture the look and sentiment of your dress without altering the original.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE SPECIAL FABRIC TO SEND?
We can source materials that capture the spirit of your vision. Every effort is made to match textures, colours, and sentimental details wherever possible.

HOW DOES THE PERSONALISATION PROCESS WORK?
After placing your order, you’ll receive a consultation email outlining the next steps. You’ll be invited to share photos, memories, preferences, and any materials you wish to include. From there, your doll is lovingly handcrafted through a thoughtful, collaborative process.

WILL I SEE A DESIGN PREVIEW BEFORE MY DOLL IS MADE?
Because each Wedding Dress Keepsake Doll is handmade and unique, we do not provide detailed design proofs prior to production. However, we stay closely guided by your photos, fabrics, and personal notes, with approval steps during the creative process to ensure the final heirloom beautifully captures your gown and special day.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE MY WEDDING DRESS KEEPSAKE DOLL?
Please allow up to 12 weeks from receipt of your design details and fabrics. Each doll is individually handcrafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, and this thoughtful process takes time to ensure a true keepsake you’ll treasure forever.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REMAINING FABRIC?
Many customers choose to leave any leftover fabric with me after their doll is complete. These fabric remnants are thoughtfully crafted into tiny angel gowns, which are donated to Angel Gowns Australia, a charity providing burial garments to families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a baby. If you prefer to have your leftover fabric returned to you instead, you're warmly welcome to let me know; every choice is respected with care.

HOW SHOULD I DISPLAY OR CARE FOR MY DOLL?
We recommend displaying your doll indoors, away from direct sunlight or moisture. Gentle dusting with a soft cloth will help preserve its beauty over time.

Please note: Clothing and embellishments are not removable. Not all details can be reproduced in miniature.

At Upper Dhali®, every keepsake doll is lovingly handmade with care, patience, and artistry. To preserve the beauty and delicate craftsmanship of your heirloom doll, we recommend the following gentle care guidelines.

Handling

Our dolls are designed as keepsakes for display and light handling. They are not intended as toys for everyday play or rough handling. We recommend supervision for young children.

Cleaning

  • Spot-clean only with a soft, damp cloth.

  • Do not submerge your doll in water or place it in a washing machine.

  • Avoid harsh cleaners, bleach, or vigorous scrubbing, as this may damage delicate fabrics and embellishments.

Storage

  • Store your doll in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

  • Avoid damp or humid environments to protect fabrics and trims.

  • Store dolls standing or lying flat to maintain the natural flow of their clothing and hair.

A Keepsake to Treasure

Each Upper Dhali® handmade doll is created to become a cherished keepsake — a little piece of wonder, memory, and artistry. With mindful care, your doll will remain beautiful for many years to come.

From Wedding Gown to Heirloom Keepsake

Preserve the beauty of your wedding day with a bespoke keepsake doll, crafted from your bridal gown and memories.

Using Your Wedding Dress or Sourced Fabrics

Whether you have your wedding dress preserved or no longer have access to it, there are gentle options available.

  • If you still have your wedding dress, small sections are carefully selected and preserved to create your keepsake doll. Only what is needed is used, with great respect for the original garment.

  • If your dress is no longer available, you may choose from carefully sourced fabrics that echo the style, texture, and sentiment of your original gown.

  • Dresses are never dismantled without intention and care. Any remaining fabric is returned to you.

  • Heirloom lace or sentimental fabric pieces can also be incorporated, including details from veils, sashes, or sleeves.

  • If you prefer not to send your dress to us, we can source fabrics that reflect your gown in colour, texture, and feel.

If you’re unsure which option is right, I’ll guide you gently through the process.

“You have made her so exquisitely, and she will forever remind me of my younger self. Her jewellery, and especially her earrings, are so spot on; they’re perfect. She will forever make me smile, and I feel so privileged to own a piece of your wonderful creations.”

Lou Peters, Founder of Upper Dhali

Female Founded • Purpose Led

Upper Dhali® was founded by Lou Peters in 2012, emerging from a period of personal grief in which creating became a means of reflection and quiet healing.

Learning the art of doll artistry and creating beautiful dolls soon evolved beyond form and technique into a considered practice of preserving others' stories and treasured memories.

Today, Upper Dhali® represents a new generation of heirloom-quality keepsakes — where craftsmanship, sentiment, and story are brought together to create pieces intended to be treasured for generations.

Made in Brisbane, Australia

Upper Dhali® is a humble home-based studio in beautiful, sun-filled Brisbane, Queensland, where each keepsake is made thoughtfully and individually by hand.

Our dolls are art, created through a slow, deliberate process that prioritises craftsmanship over volume. Creating from a small studio allows heirloom techniques to remain central to the making process, ensuring every piece is finished with care, intention, and an uncompromising standard of quality.
